A tougher role for conservatives

Michelle Malkin write about RATHERGATE VS. PAIDPUNDITGATE . (FYI: Arstrong Williams is a conservative pundit who was paid to promote the President's "No Child Left Behind" Policy. The main problem is that he never disclosed this.) When a conservative messes up, everybody, including fellow conservatives, criticizes him. When a liberal messes up (i.e. Dan Rather), conservatives criticise him and liberals defend him. I find it amusing that many liberals try to turn the conversation about the CBS report to Williams. I heard Andrea Mitchell do this this moring on Imus. The two are completely different. They are apples and soda. Both were wrong, to be sure, but they were wrong for different reasons. I don't know how conservative can survive when they get so much scrutiny. Much has been said about the fact that the SBV (Swift Boat Vets) have received a much higher level of criticism than any of Pres. Bush's critics. Many consider Michael Moore to be a true patriot who sometimes misuses information. The same people consider Ann Coulter to be a raving conservative who is scurillous and untrustworthy. I don't know if Coulter is always accurate, but I am sure that Moore seldom if ever is. Dan Rather still has is job because he is Dan Rather. I once heard Jayson Blair say that he had forfeited the right of ever being a journalist again. That is a brave and honest statement. I am one of many that wish Mr. Rather had the same level of integrity.
