Bush Picks Chertoff for Homeland Post

I don't know anything about Michael Chertoff, but I am glad to see that the President was finally selected Ridge's replacement:

"WASHINGTON -- President Bush has chosen federal appeals court judge Michael Chertoff to be his new Homeland Security chief, turning to a former federal prosecutor who helped craft the early war on terror strategy, The Associated Press has learned."

I find it interesting it took so long to name someone after the Kerik debacle. No doubt the White House was to make sure the next appointment was completely and intensely vetted.
