A rather candid Rather

Mr. Rather says:

"'I have been here through good times and not so good times. I have seen us overcome adversity before,' Rather wrote in his first public comments since the report was released Monday."

Adversity? This is merely adversity? You are simply going through "not so good times." Give the world a stinking break. That is like Charles Mason saying, with strength, he can overcome the negative image people have of him. Does this guy have a conscience? I am not familiar enough with the journalistic world to know what the cover charge is. It would seem that, for Rather, the cost was his soul. I think I understand why Mr. Rather is such a admirer of Pres. Clinton. They are both individuals who feel they have been unfairly criticized and defamed. All either of them did was make a mockery of their profession and endulge in some harmless hubris. Are they allowed to make mistakes? The real problem is that the vast right-wing conspiracy has the tolerance and mercy of Kubla Khan. They are the real enemy. They sit their with their "ethics" and "moral values" and condemn anyone who violates the standards of human decency. What freaks? They must understand how much worse our world be without the likes of Mr. Rather and Pres. Clinton. They are each like George Bailey to the fifth power.
